What materials are your lighting fixtures made from?
All of our lanterns and lighting are made of 20-32 oz copper. The electric components and gas burners are made of brass. The copper we use is of a very high grade and extremely durable. It will weather beautifully , even in the most harsh of weather conditions.
Where are your lanterns made?
Our lanterns are handcrafted especially for you in our factory! Made is the U.S.A. really means "Made in the U.S.A"!
Why copper?
Copper lanterns and lighting will last a lifetime! There is no substitute. Most exterior lighting is made of aluminum or a composite material. Lights made of those materials will last only a few years before they start to fail. Your copper lantern will not only be beautiful, but will age gracefully, or patina, over time . When you purchase a copper light, it is a lifetime piece.
Will the Copper turn Green over time?
That depends! Copper will Verdi in certain conditions. If there is a lot of acidity in the air where you live, your copper light will Verdi more quickly. If there is less acidity in the air, then it could take 30 years or more for your copper light to Verdi.
Is your lighting suitable for coastal communities?
Of course! Thus the name Coastal Copper! Copper is one of the only materials that thrives in a salty ,corrosive environment. It will patina beautifully into a rich , burnished bronze color. Since our lanterns are solid copper, you never have to worry about rust. Your lantern will hold up against the elements.
Do you offer glass choices in your lanterns?
We do! Your lantern will arrive with clear tempered glass unless you specify otherwise. We also offer seedy glass, water glass, or artique restoration glass for a slight upgrade.
If I want a post mount lantern, what size post should I get?
All of our lanterns mount directly to a standard post size, which is 3" in diameter.
What size light bulb does your electric lantern require?
The choice is yours! We wire them for you. You may request an Edison Base Socket or a Candelabra Socket. It depends on the look you are interested in, and how much light you want. Each socket will take a 60 watt bulb.
How many BTU 's does each gas lantern use?
Our gas lanterns use 2730 for Natural Gas, and 2080 for Liquid Propane.
How much will it cost to run my gas lantern?
That depends on the cost of gas in the area which you live . A good estimate is $10-$15 per lantern per month. To get a more accurate number, simply phone your gas company.
When ordering a gas lantern, should I specify natural gas or liquid propane?
Yes definitely! They require different burners . We want to be certain to fit your lantern correctly with the right burner.
Do you offer Automatic Ignition Systems for your lanterns?
Yes we do. AI requires 110 line voltage and allows you to operate your gas lantern with a light switch or other device. This is a $400.00 upgrade per lantern. We will discuss this with you thoroughly and answer any questions you may have.
What will the flame look like?
Our flame is a beautiful 4 pronged flame. It is amazing! You can see images of it on our website under "Gallery".
Can I manually turn my gas lantern on and off?
Yes. All natural gas and liquid propane burners have a manual shut off valve. It is located at the base of the burner. It is simple to operate.
What size copper tubing is needed for gas lantern install?
A flare fitting made for use with a 1/4 " copper tubing that has been treated to resist sulphur corrosion.
